TWO TIME WINNER OF THE DUKE CITY SHOOT OUT

Triumph of The WillWill Hartman became the first two-time winner in Shootout history Saturday when his zombie comedy “Food For Thought” took the Palm de Grease for Best Picture at the ninth annual event. Hartman won the Palm last year for “Easy Pickins.” His lead in the film, Elaine Hendrix, also won Best Actress.

Albuquerque writer Christopher Boone won the Audience Award for his comedy, “Preschool’s A Bitch,” starring Vic Browder and Julia Thudium.

The entire list of award winners and the films will be posted online Sunday.

Saturday’a Gala Premiere was highlighted by an appearance by Bryan Cranston, the lead in AMC’s hit TV series “Breaking Bad.” Cranston welcomed the crowd, and co-stars Dean Norris and Aaron Paul later gave out awards. Another co-star, Steven Quezada, emceed the event.

JUDGES AWARDS
After the screening, the judges’ work begins. A panel of 3 distinguished judges
has been selected.

They are:

Jon Bowman, Executive Director, Santa Fe Film Festival
Jerry Barron, Mission Control, Inc.

The judges will select the Best New Mexico Film of 2008, as well as awards for
Best Directing, Best Script, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Acting,
Best Music, Best Sound Design, Best Effects, Best Use of Genre, Best Use of
Character, Best Use of Prop, and Best Use of Line. The judging criteria are

The New Mexico winning 2008 film will go on to compete against films from 69
other cities across the world for the best film of 2008. Last year the New
Mexico winning team, Trifecta Plus, came in 3rd in the world and screened at the
Cannes Film Festival.
